We all have those days where we wake up and we just know that it's going to be a tough day mentally. Usually this stems from going to bed worrying about something or being anxious about something that is going on in our life. Sometimes we don't really know why it's a hard mental health day, and that's okay. We all feel this way from time to time.
The first thing that I do when I feel this way upon waking in the morning is to take a moment to be grateful for the things that are good in my life. Gratitude can go a long way in helping our mental health. Just the simple fact that I woke up and have been given another day is something to be very grateful for.
The next thing that I do is sit down and enjoy a nice strong hot cup of coffee. I love my morning coffee! Once I get going I then go to YouTube, find a nice workout mix and start moving my body. Hearing that music pump through that blue tooth speaker gets me motivated! After a good workout and a nice shower I am ready to take on the day. Whatever the day has in store, I know that I can take it on. Especially with that moment of gratitude as my foundation for the day.
It's also very important to eat a balanced diet. I try to stay away from processed food and never eat fast food. I eat a lot of fruit and veggies. Plus! I love to cook, so this helps too. Not only do I make a lot of things from scratch, I enjoy it as well.
Of course everyday is not always the same, and we need a little more help with our mental health. Talking to friends and family or just hanging out, going for a walk in the woods, on the beach or in the neighborhood. Get some nature therapy. Spending time with our pets is also great therapy. It's important to face our mental health straight on and do what it takes to make sure that we get the self care that we need. Especially if we are caregivers. You can not give from an empty vessel. Taking care of yourself is not selfish and doesn't have to cost a thing! So, be kind to yourself, be grateful, and know that you are not alone! Know that YOU MATTER! 💕
